5 Common Misconceptions About Sweat Problems

The reason is that women`s sweat glands are less active than their male counterparts`. Also, women tend to shave the hairs in their armpits, which reduces the amount of perspiration that develops there.

4. Our underarms have the most sweat glands.
Again, this would seem to make sense, since the underarms are typically THE region we talk about, when discussing sweating issues. However, here`s some shocking news: the area on the human body with the most sweat glands, isn`t our head, face, groin, or hands—it`s our feet! Interestingly, since few of us walk around barefoot all day, this is one of the areas of sweat problems that are the least visible.

5. Excessive sweating can`t be inherited.
The essence of excessive sweating is an imbalance of our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. This can result from various “environmental” factors, such as obesity. However, it can also be linked to genetics as well. For instance, some people have more sweat glands than others. Also, some of us are born with genetic differences, which result in us having problems with excessive sweating.
