4 Common Causes of Groin Sweating

Do you have problems sweating in “that” place? Sweating is part of life. It`s like an all-natural air conditioning system for our bodies. Sweating can actually do a lot of good things. It helps us to lose weight, cleans out the pores in our skin, and helps our bodies to maintain the right temperature. But groin sweating can make us feel uncomfortable and downright embarrassed. Here are some of its major causes.

1. Apocrine Gland.
While our skin contains lots of sweat glands, this particular gland is located in certain parts of the body, including the underarm area and groin region. Here`s what happens. These Apocrine glands emit a special type of sweat that contains a huge amount of fatty chemicals. The “good” news is that bacteria on the skin`s surface can break down the fatty chemicals. That`s basically what causes what people refer to as B.O. or “body odor.” Also, the hairs in these regions increase the amount of bacteria present.

2. Sympathetic Nerves.
These nerves aren`t sympathetic to your groin sweating. In fact, being nervous, frightened, or excited—causes you to perspire more! There`s a chemical near the ends of the sympathetic nerves, called acetylcholine. What`s this stuff with a fancy name? When a large quantity of acetylcholine exists near your sweat glands, the latter become activated and start producing more perspiration. People with perspiration problems often have sympathetic nerves that go berserk—causing them to perspire more due to the following stimulants:

* higher air temperatures
* stress
* emotional upheavals
* spicy foods
* nervousness

3. Genes.
You may keep scratching your head when trying to figure out what`s causing your groin sweating. In fact, it could simply be a condition that you inherited from your parents. While the technical term of the condition is “hyperhidrosis,” it means that you perspire too much. The inherited sweat “problem” that people tend to inherit, typically involves the nervous system and sweat glands.

4. Medical Conditions.
If you perspire a lot, you might have some sort of medical condition that`s causing the excess sweating. These conditions can include:

* gout: This is a disease that causes people`s joints to swell, and particularly those contained in the toes.

* liver disease: the normal function of the liver is to clean unwanted substances from our blood. When it doesn`t function well, excess perspiration can occur.

* metabolism problems: when our metabolism works well, then our bodies efficiently turn food into energy. But when the system is out of order, our bodies can experience a plumbing problem of sorts. This causes us to sweat more, such as through groin sweating.

* parasites: when these critters live on our skin or in our bodies, one of the effects is that we sweat more.

* rheumatoid arthritis: this disease involves the destruction of connective tissues and occurs when the body discards its own cells of tissue.
